A practical, case-based course on how Geographical Indications, heritage and tourism can work together to build place identity and community livelihoods, using Kashmir's GI-tagged crafts and produce as the living case.
Kashmir's saffron, Pashmina, Kani shawls, Sozni embroidery, walnut wood carving and papier-mâché carry centuries of place-based knowledge. This course shows how to understand these products legally, position them within a destination's identity, involve the communities behind them, and communicate their value credibly. It combines GI and IP fundamentals with tourism, branding and community-participation thinking, and ends with a capstone you can use in research, a proposal or a project.
