About me

Hi, I’m Kamal Kant. I’m a Senior Software Development Engineer at Amazon with 6+ years of experience in technology. Alongside my professional journey, I’ve always enjoyed helping people think through their careers, goals and important life decisions. During my time at Thapar University, I was a Counselling Facilitator at CSED and Joint General Secretary of the Creative Computing Society. Over the years, I’ve also informally mentored and guided 100+ students and professionals. The conversations have covered everything from choosing between government and private-sector careers, finding the right career path and preparing for interviews, to changing jobs, building technical skills and making difficult personal decisions. One thing I strongly believe in is that career growth should not come at the cost of having a fulfilling life. I’m a sports enthusiast and have participated in and won various chess and badminton tournaments, including singles, doubles and mixed doubles. Sports have been an important part of my life and have taught me discipline, consistency, handling setbacks and the importance of making time for things outside work. Because of this, I also enjoy talking about work-life balance and how to build a career that fits the life you want to live. I don't believe that everyone needs to follow the same definition of success. For some, it may be a high-growth corporate career; for others, it may be a government job, stability, entrepreneurship, or simply having more time for family and personal interests. My approach to mentoring is simple: I listen to your situation, understand what matters to you, help you look at the options objectively, and share my perspective based on my own experiences. If you're confused about your career, considering a major change, trying to find better balance, or simply want an honest conversation with someone who has been through different stages of a career, I'd be happy to talk. Looking forward to meeting you.
