System Design Interview Framework with Avish Mishra

System design interviews can feel intimidating, especially when the question is unfamiliar and you don’t know how to structure your thoughts.

This document shares a practical framework I built from my own interview experiences, observations, mistakes, and learnings over the years. Instead of memorizing random architectures, the focus is on developing a structured approach to think clearly, manage time, communicate trade-offs, and handle unknown questions confidently.

It also includes common mistakes candidates make and how expectations evolve for senior roles.

Created with the hope that it helps someone feel a little more prepared and less overwhelmed during interviews.
